MINIMUM PAY INCREASED BY 11%

The proposal of a new minimum labor cost and hourly wage for employees in Serbia was considered at the Session of the Socio-Economic Council. The proposal was that the labor cost should be Din. 12.180,00, and the hourly wage is now Din. 70,00. The increase would be approximately 11% and would be effective as of February 2008.

The Vice-President of Serbian Government, Bozidar Djelic, on the occasion of the visit to ‘’Magnohrom’’, said that certain budgetary funds of the Republic of Serbia would be provided and that this would be possible if the production was restored. Many feared that this was stated only as a part of the election campaign. At the meeting, held in Belgrade, this was denied, and the following people participated in the meeting: Director of the Privatization Agency, Vesna Djinic, Director of the Stock Fund, Aleksandar Gracanac, and Snezana Zivkovic, representative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Vladimir Cvetkovic, representative of the town of Kraljevo, Municipality President, Milos Babic, representatives of all three Trade Unions, and ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union was represented by Mrs. Jasmina Djikic.

When you try to apply this rule on representatives of the Autonomous Trade Union of ‘’RTB’’ Bor, being the participants in this meeting, you have to understand that the word is about frivolous and irresponsible people who are trying, through false promises, to drive away the Austrian ‘’ATEC’’ and thereby preserve the idler privileges they now have as unionists.

Today, Peter Scherrer, EMF Secretary General, with headquarters in Brussels, said that shutting down ‘’Nokia’s’’ Cellular Phone Factory in Bohum was a ‘’blow in the face’’ of all employees. Such an action of the mentioned Factory represents a serious violation of the European Labor Council Directive. The factory must be prepared for the sanctions and court trial, in compliance with the law.

She spoke about the work and activities of Women’s Section of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’. The major emphasis was on non-participation at the Conference of Women and Youth for South-East Europe which took place in Podgorica, in December last year.
