STATE OF SERBIA STILL A MOTHER AND NOT A STEPMOTHER

The Vice-President of Serbian Government, Bozidar Djelic, on the occasion of the visit to ‘’Magnohrom’’, said that certain budgetary funds of the Republic of Serbia would be provided and that this would be possible if the production was restored. Many feared that this was stated only as a part of the election campaign. At the meeting, held in Belgrade, this was denied, and the following people participated in the meeting: Director of the Privatization Agency, Vesna Djinic, Director of the Stock Fund, Aleksandar Gracanac, and Snezana Zivkovic, representative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Vladimir Cvetkovic, representative of the town of Kraljevo, Municipality President, Milos Babic, representatives of all three Trade Unions, and ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union was represented by Mrs. Jasmina Djikic.

The main topic of the meeting was the issue concerning the steps to be taken in order to recover ‘’Magnohrom’’, namely, what has to be done after a disastrous management by an Indian national and domestic management. One should perceive the current situation, a financial report has to be drawn up, annual balance sheet prepared and damage estimated. The first good sign is that ‘’Magnohrom’’ got electricity. Also, one should restore the production and make a new approach to re-sale of ‘’Magnohrom’’ by inviting tenders. A financial support has been promised, which will be used for the start-up of operations, repair of the equipment and purchase of machines. Also, a Social Program has been planned, in compliance with which, a worker, comprised by this Program, will get 200 Euro per year of service. Finally, a conclusion has been drawn that Mr. Djelic, will come to ‘’Magnohrom’’ again by the end of March, in order to convince himself of the implementation of all measures that were agreed. A more favorable period is coming now for ‘’Magnohrom’’.
