THE YOUTH IN ACTION FOR DECENT WORK

The project of the Youth from South-East Europe, approved by the European Commission and implemented in cooperation with Hungarian Trade Union (EOSZ) and Friedrich Ebert Foundation, aimed at promoting the status of young people in the labor market and trade union. The participants in the project were young people of the following Trade Unions: Croatian, B & H, Montenegrin, Serbian, Macedonian, Albanian, Kosovo, Rumanian, Bulgarian and Hungarian. The idea was to organize a concert in all countries on June 20 in order to call attention to the youth and the public to the problems encountered by young people in the labor market.

Accepting a new division of the EMF from Lisbon Congress, Metal Workers Trade Unions of South-East Europe, EMF members, used the Conference in Sofia to exchange information and experience, as well as to reach an agreement concerning future joint activities. Besides representatives of Metal Workers Trade Unions from the Region, the Conference was also attended by the EMF leadership, Secretary General, Peter Scherrer, Tony Jansen, former EMF president and Alicia Masievic. The host and one of the Chairmen was Vasil Yanachkov, EMF Vice-President. The holding of the Conference was enabled with the FES support and those present at the Conference were welcomed by Marc Meinardus, FES Director – Bulgaria.

Six hours of work of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Leading Committee was not enough to review the anticipated items at the session of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Leading Committee, and a decision was reached that the session would be continued in March. The beginning of the L.C. meeting was used for the verification of new members and the Minutes of IV Session of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Leading Committee was adopted.

MWBU CONGRESS SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER

The MWBU Leading Committee unanimously adopted the 2007 Work Report, as well as the Auditing Committee’s Report of financial operations of MWBU in 2007, in which it was stated that MWBU operations were within the statutory regulations. The Auditing Committee pointed out the problem of payment of membership dues in using the percentages agreed at the UBU Congress, and we have to solve this problem in the next period.

XVIII Session of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Presidency as a preparation for the Leading Committee of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’
REALISTIC GROWTH – IT MUST BE BETTER

The members of the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Presidency can be satisfied with the results achieved in 2007 relative to previous plans and circumstances in which they acted. We achieved more than expected in many segments, but this tells that we can score results through diligent work and commitment, which are necessary for our members in the current, political and social situation. Such resolution of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Presidency is based on the adopted 2007 Work Report, as well as the Report of material and financial operations and transactions, submitted by the Presidency. The President of the Auditing Committee, Petar Potezica informed the Presidency that the Auditing Committee of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ concluded that the funds in 2007 were used in compliance with the Statute, Decisions and Regulations on material-financial operations. The Auditing Committee hasn’t established any irregularities in disposal of those funds.
