The representatives of trade unions of ‘’RTB’’ Bor spent the night in the building of the Ministry of the Economy and Regional Development

IDLERS PRESERVE PRIVILEGES

Belgrade, February 5 2008
Every meeting beginning at 5 p.m. and ending in early morning hours the next day should have a reasonable conclusion as a result. When you try to apply this rule on representatives of the Autonomous Trade Union of ‘’RTB’’ Bor, being the participants in this meeting, you have to understand that the word is about frivolous and irresponsible people who are trying, through false promises, to drive away the Austrian ‘’ATEC’’ and thereby preserve the idler privileges they now have as unionists.

Although the ‘’ATEC’’ negotiating team accepted the demands of both the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union and the ATU of ‘’RTB’’ Bor, and the Autonomous Trade Union refused, at the end, to sign the text which was the subject of negotiations, without a reasonable explanation.

The novelties in the Social Program are that severance pay cannot be less than 250 Euro per year of service, and if the cost of copper is higher than US$ 8.000/ton, the severance pay will be 450 Euro per year of service. The Labor Contract cannot be terminated on the basis of technological, economic or organizational changes with any worker without his consent until December 31 2009. It was anticipated that Labor Contract would not be terminated for more than 30% employees within a 3-year period after concluding the transaction and that, when deciding on surplus manpower, the stipulations of the Labor Law should be observed, with regard to the Program on redundancies. Based on this, the buyer is entitled to decide which worker will leave the company and that he thereby gets severance pay, and this can also be done by those who decide to leave the company on volunteer basis. Also, trade unions were informed that there was a possibility of payment for each employee in the amount of approx. Din. 16.000, i.e., on Easter of 2008. If the Social Program is not signed there will be a referendum, and in this way one will decide on the future of ‘’RTB’’ Bor workers.
