PLAYING WITH DESTINY OF WORKERS OF ‘’RTB’’ BOR

Bor, February 4 2008
Between workers of ‘’RTB’’ Bor, more precisely, their trade unions and the Minister of the Economy and Regional Development, Mr. Dinkic, the agreement that was made was brought in question. That was the agreement on payment of 200 Euro per full year of service for employees.

The Autonomous Trade Union rejects the possibility to provide the benefits to its members, so a question is put as to who has the right to play with destiny of thousands of people. Also, the Autonomous Trade Union does not want to sign the Agreement on Additional Social Program, which is more favorable than the social program of Rumanian CUPROM which they signed.

In the text of the Agreement – additional Social Program, it has been stated that if the buyer, in a period of up to 3 years since the day of concluding the transaction, terminated the Labor Contract with an employee, was obligated to pay out severance pay to an employee which would be determined according to the cost of copper at London metal exchange, i.e. exchange market. For example:

If the average cost of copper for a 12-month period before termination of employment was higher than US $ 8.000 per ton, then the severance pay would be 500 Euro per year of service.

If the average cost of copper for a 12-month period before termination of employment was US $ 6.000 – 7.799 per ton, then the severance pay would be 400 Euro per year of service.

If the average cost of copper for a 12-month period before termination of employment was lower than US $ 6.000 per ton, in that case, the severance pay would be 200 Euro per year of service.

The ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union intercedes in favor of signing the additional Social Program as a part of the Purchase and Sales Contract, and it will also investigate why the Autonomous Union refuses to sign the Agreement and what kind of ties exist between them and the Ministry of the Economy and Regional Development. The ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union will do its best for the benefit of workers.
