STATEMENT OF MWBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ FOR WORKERS OF “MAGNOHROM”
READY TO ENTER NEGOTIATIONS

Keeping its promise, made to workers of “Magnohrom”, the representatives of “Nezavisnost” Union talked to Goran Obradovic, director of the Center for privatization process monitoring, and presented to him the present status of employees of ‘’Magnohrom”. The President of MWBU “Nezavisnost”, Dragan Matic, as well as the coordinator of the “Nezavisnost” Union of “Magnohrom”, Jasmina Djikic, stated their opinion that “Global Steel” had to be warned by the Privatization Agency, because it jeopardized the company’s operations and economic status of employees by non-compliance with some sections of the Purchase and Sales Contract, as well as non-observance of the agreement, reached in the negotiations with the Strikers’ Committee of “Magnohrom”.

All attempts of the Strikers’ Committee and workers of “Magnohrom” Kraljevo that “Global Steel” observed the agreements reached, were unsuccessful. The irresponsibility and frivolousness of “Global Steel” are not new to us, but the arrogant conduct is getting worse and employees’ concern increasing.

RAILROAD CAR FACTORY KRALJEVO (RCFK)
ON THE WAY OF RECOVERY

The concern of the Railroad Car Factory’s workers, from Kraljevo, about the company’s future, is lessening, and the main reason is that machine shops are full of workers who have a lot of work to do, payment of earnings on a regular basis and obligations fulfilled to a considerable extent by ‘’Azov-Intex”. This is a predominant opinion stated to the President of MWBU “Nezavisnost”, Dragan Matic, who visited the RCFK and talked to Mr. Fvjakislav Ferdjuk and the leadership of “Nezavisnost” Union of RCFK.

THE REPRESENTATIVES OF MWBU ’’NEZAVISNOST’’ VISITED ’’MAGNOHROM’’ KRALJEVO
WELL ACCEPTED BY WORKERS

Over two hundred Admission Forms of MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ are a guarantee that there exists ’’Magnohrom’’ employees’ interest in solving the accumulated problems in their company in an organized and efficient way. The arrival of ’’Global Steel’’ in ’’Magnohrom’’ brought new challenges and changes which it isn’t easy to cope with if you don’t have experience, knowledge, financial support, as well as the support on the national level. These stated elements are the reason for which MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ is well accepted by workers of ’’Magnohrom’’. A joint Press Conference of the Strikers’ Committee of ’’Magnohrom’’ and all trade unions is scheduled for April 4, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the headquarters of UBU ’’Nezavisnost’’, 4/V, Nusiceva Street, Belgrade.

CHILD BIRTH – RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SOCIETY

In accordance with the Recommendation of the ICAU and ILO, and after the Conference which took place in Tirana, on the topic of Maternity protection in South-East Europe, the Women's Section of UBU ''Nezavisnost'' and the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions gave the initiative that the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia should ratify the Convention on maternity protection – C183, with Recommendation R191. On the occasion of that initiative a ''Round Table'' discussion was organized in Tanjug's Press Centre on March 30, 2007. The purpose of this initiative is the ratification of this Convention with a clear political objective that child birth is the society's and not only mother's responsibility.

THE RAPPROCHEMENT OF TWO BIG SYSTEMS

The representatives of ’’Nezavisnost’’ T.U. of the RVF ’’GOSA’’ had the opportunity, within the agreed program of visit to ’’ZOS’’ Trnava, to be informed about the company organization system, visit the production plants and meet with colleagues of the T.U. operating in ’’ZOS’’. ’’ZOS’’ Trnava privatized the RVF ’’GOSA’’ at the beginning of 2007, so that this visit has a symbolic nature of rapprochement of two big industrial systems from Slovakia and Serbia, regarding that they had been founded in approximately the same year, ’’ZOS’’ in 1924, and ’’GOSA’’ in 1923.
