In the weekly publication of Pomoravlje - ‘’Novi put’’ Jagodina

EDITOR SENTENCED, BECAUSE OF BATTERY

Jagodina, September 16 2008
Zoran Milovanovic (52) from Jagodina, editor of the weekly publication of Pomoravlje – ‘’Novi put’’, was given a suspended sentence, because of battery and torture. It was stated in the justification of the sentence given by the judge of the Municipal Court of Jagodina, Radojica Lekovic, that it was proved that the sentenced Milovanovic transgressed the relations between a manager and employee by his acts and behavior. Judge Lekovic said that all witnesses confirmed the statements of the bill of indictment and that Milovanovic even confirmed this partly in his defense. The bill of indictment was upraised against him, because he acted toward Ivana Delic-Jankovic (36) from Jagodina, journalist and editor of the column in ‘’Novi put’’, in such a way that ‘’human dignity’’ was offended.

Serbian Employers Union remained wordless. Membership in the Union is a secret for trade union representatives. Non-compliance and avoidance of application of the General Collective Agreement

GENERAL COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT AS A GREAT FRAUD

Belgrade, September 2 2008
The MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ sent a letter, at the beginning of July, to Serbian Employers Union requesting it to forward a list of members of Serbian Employers Union being Employers in the Metal Industry, so that we know to whom we should apply the provisions of the signed G.C.A. At this time, the G.C.A. is neither observed nor applied by anyone and there is a threat that employees, according to their information on members of Serbian Employers Union, institute legal proceedings especially in the section relating to payment of vacation allowances and hot meals. In this way, the Union mocks social partners and the President of Serbia who was present during signing of the G.C.A. and was also a guarantor in a certain way that the G.C.A. would have an extended effect.

Mr. Dimitrije Birisic, President of ’’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union of the Copper Tube Factory in Majdanpek

RULES OF THE GAME INSTEAD OF CHAOS

Majdanpek, September 2 2008
After signing the General Collective Agreement (G.C.A.) on April 29, an open question remained as to what should one still wait for concerning the expanded effect that was promised publicly at that time. The application of the G.C.A. remains only a dead letter and is applicable only for 10% of members of the Employers Union and it becomes senseless, brings about discrimination among employers, but also indicates the organization structure of our State in legal and social sense, thinks D. Birisic, President of ’’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union of the Copper Tube Factory in Majdanpek.

IMT and manufacturers of agricultural machines deserve adequate status and the same chance as ’’Zastava’’ and Serbian automotive industry. Support from municipal authorities necessary

AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY AS A CHANCE FOR METAL INDUSTRY

Belgrade, September 1 2008
The concern of the IMT representative trade unions resulted in a meeting held in the Ministry of the Economy and Regional Development with Mr. Nebojsa Ciric, Undersecretary. Union representatives were concerned about the privatization process in the IMT and the status of 1100 workers employed in the IMT. The first tender for the IMT was unsuccessful, because Zepter Company desisted from purchase, and in compliance with the law, the sale procedure was offered to the company that ranked second, i.e. Polish company ’’Polmot’’, but unfortunately, this company also desisted from purchase, so that the MPC Company now appears as potential buyer of 70% of the IMT capital. Unionists support the identical solution of ’’Zastava’’ privatization to be applied to IMT as well, more precisely, that the State should find a strategic partner and that employees should be given the right as it was the case with ’’Zastava’’ employees. The Vice-President of the Government, Mr. M. Dinkic, announced such a possibility by stating that employees in the companies being in the restructuring process could count on benefits and facilities given to ’’Zastava’’ employees.

METAL WORKERS WAGES ARE INCREASING

Belgrade, September 1 August 2008
Average pays in July within Serbian Metal Industry Complex have been slightly increased, while the differences in the activities comprised by the Metal Industry Complex differ to a considerable extent. When an average pay in the manufacture of office and computing machines is considered, which is Din. 62.623,00, relative to Din. 18.120,00, paid to manufacturers of Radio, TV and communication equipment, it can be seen that there is no wage leveling within the Metal Industry Complex, but the average of Din. 34.802,75 is encouraging although it is lower than the average within Serbian economy, which is Din. 43.504,00. A more significant difference is reflected in average wage outside the economy, which is Din. 50.934,00, and this is, relative to the average in the metal industry, lower by Din. 16.132,00, which is by almost 50% higher than the average in the metal industry.
