IT ISN’T CLEAR TO A MAJORITY OF MEMBERS OF THE ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ UNION WHAT HAPPENED THAT THE UBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’, WITHOUT ANY REASON, VIOLATING ALL STATUTORY AND PROGRAM REGULATIONS, IS TRYING TO SETTLE ACCOUNTS WITH ONE OF THE MOST NUMEROUS AND BEST ORGANIZED BRANCH UNIONS, THE MWBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ ?! THOSE WHO TAKE PART IN THE CAMPAIGN, DIRECTED TOWARDS METAL WORKERS, FABRICATE THEIR OWN STORIES AND SAY THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN DRAGAN MATIC AND THEN IN THE MWBU LEADERSHIP, MWBU PRESIDENCY, MWBU LEADING COMMITTEE, 30.000 MEMBERS OF THE MWBU.

‘’TASK FORCE’’ AS A ‘’CURSED’’ OFFER

The Session of the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Presidency adopted the schedule of activities for the VI Congress of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, and tasks and responsibilities were assigned for organizational, technical and policy related jobs. A letter received from the UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ was judged as ‘’cursed’’, without legal grounds in the Statute and Rules of Trade Union operation. The so-called ‘’Task forces’’, using ‘’Stalinist methods’’ as a model, are not the ones that can resolve the problem of abuses and arrogance of B. Canak and some individuals of the UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Presidency. In the letter, it stands as follows: The ‘’task force’’ is assigned to explore the possibility of establishing a new platform, based on which the MWBU would accept the Decision of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’.

The Seminar on Job Safety and Industrial Hygiene was held from June 3 – 4 2008 in Belgrade with the support given by colleagues of GMTN (Metal, Textile and Food Processing Industry Workers Union from Austria) for members of Job Safety Commissions in the companies within the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’. The Seminar was attended by 27 attendees from various companies throughout Serbia. The lecturers at the Seminar were Anton Hiden, Secretary for Job Safety in the GMTN and woman colleague Barbara Libovicki from the largest Austrian Insurance Company ‘’AUVA’’ (competent for injuries at work).
