A slight increase of wages in July 2008. Significant differences in the amount of wages paid out in Serbian Metal Industry Complex

METAL WORKERS WAGES ARE INCREASING

Belgrade, September 1 August 2008
Average pays in July within Serbian Metal Industry Complex have been slightly increased, while the differences in the activities comprised by the Metal Industry Complex differ to a considerable extent. When an average pay in the manufacture of office and computing machines is considered, which is Din. 62.623,00, relative to Din. 18.120,00, paid to manufacturers of Radio, TV and communication equipment, it can be seen that there is no wage leveling within the Metal Industry Complex, but the average of Din. 34.802,75 is encouraging although it is lower than the average within Serbian economy, which is Din. 43.504,00. A more significant difference is reflected in average wage outside the economy, which is Din. 50.934,00, and this is, relative to the average in the metal industry, lower by Din. 16.132,00, which is by almost 50% higher than the average in the metal industry.

The pays in Central Serbia and AP Vojvodina are almost equal. In Central Serbia the average pay is Din. 46.233,00 and in Vojvodina it is Din 45.794,00. The most important segment of manufacturers in metal industry is comprised by the manufacture of base metals, machines and facilities, motor vehicles and transportation means, and their further increase, expressed in percentages, is expected in an overall participation in the area of metal industry complex operations.
