After the study trip within the Project ‘’Welcome to Germany’’, in the spring of 2007, a group of students, awarded scholarships by the ‘’FES’’ Foundation, inspired by gained experience and participation in workshops in Berlin, devised the Project ‘’Serbian Café’’. Within this Project, implemented in October 2007, the students-scholarship holders, had the opportunity to talk, as moderators, to Belgrade students and Secondary-School students, about some of the most serious problems existing in Serbian society. The material gathered in this workshop served for the publication which was printed and published by the Foundation on June 27 2008.

All preliminary attempts of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union of Railway Car Factory, Kraljevo to reach a satisfactory level of social dialogue between Trade Union and Management of the RCFK didn’t have any effect. In the conversation with Mr. Serev Budvak, the President of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, Dragan Matic, stressed several priorities by which the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ was guided in all the activities within the RCFK.

All analyses on the prospects of Serbian textile industry are optimistic. It is classified into one of the strategic branches of the economy and represents an important factor in overall creation of gross domestic product. Textile industry employs a large number of workers and scores very good export results. A major branch of the economy in many Serbian regions is just textile industry. It is a considerable source of income for many families. Such regions are: Leskovac, Vranje, Pirot, etc. Their survival and development are closely associated with the production, sale, textile export.

The best indicator of existence or non-existence of developed industrial conscience and social dialogue is the number of strikes that occur in the society. This area arouse interest of Megatrend University from Serbia and Middlesex University from United Kingdom. Researchers from those Universities have conducted a poll on strikes and industrial conflicts. The project manager is prof. dr Darko Marinkovic, who is one of the founders of the UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ and a member of the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Council. This project is very important for MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’. This Trade Union contributes to this project in such a way that all Trustee Offices are polled, where this Union conducted strike activities.

The ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Branch Union of Textile, Leather and Footwear Industry will not succumb to ‘’hysteria’’, created around B. Canak (co-owner of the newspaper ‘’Danas’’) and directed towards ‘’settlement of accounts’’ with Metal Workers. Friendship and good cooperation between metal and textile industry workers has already been confirmed in the Trustee Offices within the Region, in solving the most difficult employee problems. The seriousness of problems in the ‘’TLFI’’ is such that there is no chance of improving the situation in textile industry companies without joint activities and actions, as well as the utilization of all metal and textile industry workers capacities. The Report of the activities and preparations for the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Congress and the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Branch Union of ‘’TLFI’’ was submitted by Dragan Matic, coordinator for ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Branch Union of ‘’TLFI’’ and President of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’.

Young, skilled, but unemployed people are an increasingly present group which, instead of contributing to overall social development, often find a way out on the opposite side of the law.
