RULES OF THE GAME INSTEAD OF CHAOS

After signing the General Collective Agreement (G.C.A.) on April 29, an open question remained as to what should one still wait for concerning the expanded effect that was promised publicly at that time. The application of the G.C.A. remains only a dead letter and is applicable only for 10% of members of the Employers Union and it becomes senseless, brings about discrimination among employers, but also indicates the organization structure of our State in legal and social sense, thinks D. Birisic, President of ’’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union of the Copper Tube Factory in Majdanpek.

He said that the current situation concerning the G.C.A. status made him start believing those who thought that signing of this document was only a marketing trick prior to elections. The just formed Serbian Government now has the opportunity to show that it is composed of people who can keep their promises, stressed Birisic.

-’’It is time to show that Serbia is a State based on Law and Order, and that all rules, standards and regulations apply to everyone and not only to individuals. Expanding the effect of the G.C.A. is an opportunity for the State to pursue social policy and social justice and take care of its citizens, because there is no priority over that being an interest of employees and citizens, emphasized Birisic, advising politicians, and especially Ivica Dacic, leader of SPS, to prove that he really supports the social state program he pleaded for at the elections together with his Party.’’

Birisic’s judgment is that trade unions too have a real opportunity to learn a lesson from everything that happened and to do a real thing for members and all employees. Trade Unions have full right to demand an expanded effect of the G.C.A. and it is not appropriate that they care for the cost of this document application. This must be a concern of the State and Employer. It is time that instead of the reign of chaos we set out toward the time in which the rules of the game, that everyone has to obey, really reign, said D. Birisic.
