MINISTER DINKIC SPURS THE PRIVATIZATION PROCESS IN SERBIAN METAL INDUSTRY
’’PETOLETKA’’ – TO BE OR NOT TO BE
Belgrade, March 17 2008
’’Prva petoletka’’ a.d. from Trstenik was visited, on February 27 2008, by Mladjan Dinkic, Minister of the economy and regional development, with associates Verica Kalanovic and Miodrag Miljkovic. Besides his associates, the delegation was composed of the Director of the Privatization Agency, Aleksandar Ljubic and associates Nebojsa Ciric and Vesna Džinic.
The visit to ’’Prva petoletka’’, as minister Dinkic said, followed after the talks he conducted with the executive management and trade unions, so that he would make a decision on the mode of privatization of ’’Prva petoletka’’, whether entirely by inviting the third tender or through individual sale, company by company within the Holding, and in this way he would reach the best possible solution.
The minister mentioned he was informed about the failure of the first tender and that he was partly notified about the failure of the second tender called for the sale of ’’Prva petoletka’’ shortly before the meeting of the Tender Commission, because he was appointed minister only after inviting the second tenders.
As to calling for the third tenders for the sale of ’’Prva petoletka’’, the minister was explicit and said he wouldn’t want this tender to be unsuccessful too, but he wished to carry out a successful privatization in such a way as to invite 18 tenders at the same time for each factory separately within the Holding. The minister stressed on that occasion that all those who wanted to take part in the privatization of ’’Prva petoletka’’ would have even chances. He mentioned the interest of Austrian company ’’Palfinger’’ for the purchase of the following enterprises within the Holding, as follows: ’’Hidraulika’’, ’’Cilindri’’, ’’TMO’’, ’’Zaptivke’’ and ’’Inženjering’’. The minister stated that ’’Palfinger’’ was a serious company, because, as he said, it could be seen from the balance sheet of ’’Palfinger’’ operations.
At the end of the visit to ’’Prva petoletka’’, the minister suggested that one should organize a working visit to ’’Rosoboron export’’ and ’’Palfinger’’. The management and trade union shall visit the mentioned companies and the trip shall be financed by the Ministry of Regional Development.
After the visit to both interested companies in the privatization process of ’’Prva petoletka’’, talks will be conducted with the minister and after that he will make a decision on the mode of privatization of ’’Prva petoletka’’ a.d. from Trstenik.
