TOPOLA FOUNDRY – “LIVAR” (SMELTER) GROUP

GOOD WORKERS, BUT LOW WAGES

Topola, November 29, 2007
Excellent quality has been reached and outstanding performance shown during the month, which is disproportionate with the pay level. Shift work and working hours are below average in Serbia. Job coefficients have been reduced and overtime work has not been presented in a realistic manner. An economic violation has been committed with such work. The end of calendar year is approaching and payment of vacation allowance for 2007 suspended. Job safety at the workplace is inadequate. The standards set by the Executive Management are considerably higher than in Slovenia, but workers’ pays within the same company are higher in that country.

A LETTER SENT BY DRAGAN MATIC, PRESIDENT OF MWBU “NEZAVISNOST”, TO ALL MEMBERS OF “NEZAVISNOST” UNION AND WORKERS OF “LJUBISA MIODRAGOVIC” FROM PRIJEPOLJE

“INSANE” EMPLOYER

Belgrade, November 27 2007
The people’s saying: “Distrust those that are marked by the Creator” becomes serious especially when a person having bad luck, by concurrence of circumstances, controls other people, their lives and their families lives in a certain way. Such “insane” people appear often in a group of employers, company owners, to which the rights of people, workers, trade union representatives and trade unions is an unknown category. Serbian legislation regulated this area more or less successfully, which the workers, trade unions and employers have to apply and observe.

ZRENJANIN

BANKRUPTCY IN SINVOZ

Zrenjanin, November 27 2007
A proposal for instituting bankruptcy proceedings in AD Sinvoz, Zrenjanin was submitted with the Commercial Court of Zrenjanin. The proposal was submitted by TTC Logistic d.o.o. Beograd, whose owner is Nebojsa Ivkovic, who is also a majority owner of AD Sinvoz. What an irony! It was stated in the proposal that the debtor had already been insolvent for a longer time period and that debtor’s account was blocked for 61 days in continuity, so that the account blocking with interruptions lasted 201 days.

ADDRESSING EMPLOYEES OF “MAGNOHROM” AND THE PUBLIC OF KRALJEVO

WHO PERMITTED “GLOBAL STEEL” TO DESTROY AND SELL HUNDREDS OF TONS OF FACTORY MACHINES?

Kraljevo, November 23 2007
The proof that Global Steel is not a good solution for workers of Magnohrom was confirmed by the Privatization Agency, because it requested termination of Purchase & Sales Contract. A bad situation in Magnohrom indicates company’s bankruptcy. Employees of Magnohrom and our Union pointed to all this six months ago. The Privatization Agency didn’t believe this and supported the Management. Global Steel destroyed a lot. Hundreds of tons of machines were sold, many things cut and broken and workers haven’t even “seen” the money from this sale.

AN OPEN LETTER SENT TO FSV “ZELVOZ” EMPLOYEES AND THE PUBLIC OF SMEDEREVO

HOW TO RUIN FSV “ZELVOZ”

Smederevo, November 23 2007
“The interest showed by MWBU “Nezavisnost” in the process of privatization of FSV “Zelvoz” d.o.o. is based on the fact that we have our union members in this company and that there is a minor number of companies of metal industry complex that can be privatized successfully, in which there are 1700 employees. I hope that the activities of representative unions in Zelvoz are known to you, which have nearly 90% members and that those unions prepared a Social Program which was accepted in tender documentation. We cannot understand your interest in the opinion and position of an extremely marginal union in Zelvoz, unless I suspect that this interest of yours is based on personal and not on professional interest. Be sure that trade unions have reached an agreement which absolutely suits a majority of employees and that it won’t be easy for future buyer to employ 1700 workers, that they get pays on regular basis and that all commitments are paid out to the State.” This is a part of the text which the president of MWBU “Nezavisnost”, D. Matic forwarded to the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, namely, Mr. Nebojsa Ciric, Undersecretary.
