“It is clear now to our “brothers”, the Montenegrins, i.e. Federation of Unions of Montenegro, that they sheltered someone who turned out to be ungrateful (Federation of Autonomous Unions of Serbia) and the inhumanity they experienced from their “brother” and union “buddy” Mika Smiljanic. For what reason has the discord ensued between former partners? The answer is: Because of Union’s premises (space) and not because of ideas”.

The Office of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for EU Integration has, as from November 30 – December 1, 2006, organized the training on negotiations and implementation of the Social Dialogue on the subject: “Serbia and Stabilization Process and EU Integration”. The Seminar was held in cooperation with and the support of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, “Invent” Agency and European Policy Institute from Berlin. The Seminar was held in the Ministers’ Council Palace in Novi Beograd.

A BOOKLET ON EUROPEAN UNION PUBLISHED

Bearing in mind the European future of the countries of former Yugoslavia, as well as the necessity of Union entering the integration processes, the Youth Section of MWBU “Nezavisnost” proposed the publication of a booklet dedicated to the European Union and social dialogue within the European Union, at the last meeting held in Belgrade in April 2006. The idea was accepted and realized thanks to IGM and FES.

VI CONGRESS OF UBU “NEZAVISNOST” COMPLETED ITS WORK
NEW LEADERSHIP ELECTED

The delegates of VI Congress of UBU “Nezavisnost” adopted the Union’s Program Declaration for the following period and elected a new leadership in Belgrade’s “Sava Centar”, on November 25, 2006. Branislav Canak was re-elected President of UBU “Nezavisnost”, and Nebojsa Savic, Gordana Aleksic and dr Zoran Stoiljkovic as Vice-Presidents, and the Leading, Statutory and Auditing Committees were also elected. The Leading Committee of UBU "Nezavisnost" appointed Slavoljub Lukovic as secretary of UBU "Nezavisnost".

VI CONGRESS OF UBU "NEZAVISNOST": "WE HAVE JUST STARTED”
A NEW TIME REQUIRES NEW UNIONS

The VI Congress of UBU “Nezavisnost” was opened formally in the “Sava Centar” in Belgrade, after the projection of the promotional film about “Nezavisnost” Union, on November 24, 2006. At the beginning of the Congress, the working bodies have been elected, Rules of Procedure and Work Report between the V and VI Congress adopted, and the Report was read by Branislav Canak, President of UBU “Nezavisnost”. All the present were also addressed by Slobodan Lalovic, Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Policy in the Government of the Republic of Serbia. After the welcome address of domestic and foreign guests, the delegates have considered the proposal of a new Statute and other Congress documents.

ROUND TABLE ON THE OCCASION OF THE 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF UBU “NEZAVISNOST”: “A VIEW BACKWARD – A VIEW FORWARD”
“BETTER WORK THAN WAR”

“Better work than war” was one of the first slogans of the UBU “Nezavisnost”, 15 years ago when it was founded, it has been heard at the very beginning of the discussion at the “round table” titled “A view backward – A view forward”, held on November 23, 2006 in the International Press Center in Belgrade, in the organization of UBU “Nezavisnost” and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation. By this “round table”, in which foreign guests, members of the Presidency, representatives of the Women’s Section and the Youth Section of UBU “Nezavisnost” took part, the VI Congress of UBU “Nezavisnost” practically commenced, which will be held tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in the big auditorium of “Sava Centar” in Belgrade.
