A BOOKLET ON EUROPEAN UNION PUBLISHED




Belgrade, November 28, 2006
Bearing in mind the European future of the countries of former Yugoslavia, as well as the necessity of Union entering the integration processes, the Youth Section of MWBU “Nezavisnost” proposed the publication of a booklet dedicated to the European Union and social dialogue within the European Union, at the last meeting held in Belgrade in April 2006. The idea was accepted and realized thanks to IGM and FES.

The cooperation of young people of Metal Workers’ Unions from former Yugoslavia has lasted since 2004. The gatherings of young metal workers from former Yugoslavia have been organized for three years already with the support of IG Metall Union and Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

During these few days in a year the young unionists from the countries of former Yugoslavia have the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange experiences. Each meeting is dedicated to a specific subject, such as learning during entire life, organizing young people in a union, status of young people in the European Union, organizational forms and co-decision-making of young unionists in Germany.

This booklet will give the basic information on the European Union, its institutions, politics towards young people, but also on the process we have to go through in order to become a part of it. When reading the booklet, you will be informed about union organizations in the European Union, their actions, tasks and role in the social dialogue. We believe that the information will be useful to you in order that you enter the EU integration processes through your unions.
