THE NEGOTIATIONS HAVE BEGUN
On the initiative of the two representative Metal Workers’ Unions: Metal Workers’ Branch Union “Nezavisnost” (MWBU) and Autonomous Metal Workers’ Union of Serbia (AMWUS), the negotiations with Serbian Employers’ Union (SEU), Metal Industry Committee, have begun on October 2, 2006 in Belgrade, in connection with signing a Special – Branch Collective Agreement for Serbian Metal Industry.

SEMINAR ON SAFETY AND INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE
The Seminar on Safety and Industrial Hygiene was organized in the spa “Vrujci” by the MWBU “Nezavisnost”, IG Metall and Fridrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation, from July 3 – 6, 2006.
The lecturers (speakers) at the seminar were Felix Bader and Heinz Sowce (IG Metall), Jasmina Gibanica (Fa. Getrag), and attendees of the seminar were the representatives of the Safety and Health Department of the Ministry of Labor of the Republic of Serbia, Vera Bozic-Trefalt and Simo Kosic. The seminar was also attended by regional commissaries of MWBU “Nezavisnost”.

THE REPRESENTATIVE UNIOINS DETERMINED BY U. S. STEEL SERBIA, D.O.O.
THE NEGOTIATIONS MAY BEGIN
The Employer in U. S. Steel Serbia, d.o.o. determined the representative unions in the parent company on June 9, 2006.
The Autonomous Union has 2783 members, “Nezavisnost” Union has 1392 members, and Association of Autonomous and Independent Unions of USS has 1170 members.
The representation has been also determined in the Affiliated Companies of U. S. Steel Serbia, d.o.o., and in this way the first step was made in the negotiations for the new Collective Agreement, which is expected at the beginning of September this year.
