''There is a praiseworthy result achieved in U. S. Steel Serbia, d.o.o. in Smederevo in the area of Safety and Industrial Hygiene, to which, besides the Employer, contributed to a great extent the representative unions by direct involvement and engagement and through operations of the Safety Committee. Namely, in September and October, 2006, for the first time since U.S. Steel Serbia, d.o.o. started operations, ''ZERO'' lost working days (sick-leaves) was recorded, based on injuries at work'', says Mileta Gujanicic, President of ''Nezavisnost'' Union in USSS.

In spite of sincere support and interceding of “Nezavisnost” Union that the strike in “MBS” is to be resolved within legal framework, the majority proprietor of “MBS”, Predrag Rankovic – Peconi, acted in an unreasonable and illegal manner – by giving more than 200 notices of dismissal to ‘’MBS’’ strikers. The first cases of court trials, on the charges brought by “MBS” strikers, initiated in the Municipal Court of Smederevo.

‘’Interceding of Strikers’ Committee of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of ‘’MBS INVEJ’’ that industrial conflicts should be settled through dialogue, with full respect of government institutions, in the case of strike of ‘’MBS INVEJ’’ workers, resulted in hundreds of notices of dismissal to workers.
Mr. Radosavljevic, by being elected President of Smederevo Municipality, you have received an assignment, but you haven’t discharged the task at this time, and the people of Smederevo still expect this from you. You do not take measures to protect the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Serbia, rights of each citizen of Serbia, and Smederevo was, is and will be Serbia …’’ it is said in the letter of Dragan Matic, President of MWBU “Nezavisnost”.
