THE TRIALS HAVE BEGUN IN THE MUNICIPAL COURT OF SMEDEREVO, BASED ON THE ACCUSATIONS OF "MBS"’ STRIKERS
PECONI – IN THE COURT!
Smederevo, October 30, 2006
In spite of sincere support and interceding of “Nezavisnost” Union that the strike in “MBS” is to be resolved within legal framework, the majority proprietor of “MBS”, Predrag Rankovic – Peconi, acted in an unreasonable and illegal manner – by giving more than 200 notices of dismissal to ‘’MBS’’ strikers. The first cases of court trials, on the charges brought by “MBS” strikers, initiated in the Municipal Court of Smederevo.
The “MBS” defense attorney, stated the attitudes in a rather “clumsy way”, by which the employer was guided, when he suspended the employees and was warned by the judge that he came to the trial “unprepared and without the required documents”, which the court requested from him.
New accusations shall be filed with the Municipal Court of Smederevo through the strikers’ defense attorney, based presently on illegal notices. It is expected that the Court of Smederevo shall have over 1000 cases based on strikers’ accusations and different legal grounds, and first of all, because of arrogant and irresponsible employer, such as Mr. Rankovic.
The court hearings have been scheduled for the whole November, and we also have court trials already scheduled for December. The strikers and management of MWBU “Nezavisnost” are taking all actions in accordance with the law, in order to indemnify the employees or enable their return to work. We can expect that the “blade” of strikers’ discontent will be turned even toward the irresponsible and uninterested municipal authority, namely, toward the President of Smederevo Municipality, Mr. Sasa Radosavljevic.
The court trials were monitored by Dragan Matic, President of MWBU “Nezavisnost” and Mileta Gujanicic, Vice-President of MWBU “Nezavisnost”.
