FRIVOLOUS ’’FRIULIEXPORT’’

IN A.D. ’’VAGONKA’’ – 2008 BEGAN WITH A STRIKE

Nis, January 15, 2008
The ’’Nezavisnost’’ Union of A.D. ’’Vagonka’’ Nis initiated a series of one-hour warning strikes on January 8, 2008, because of unkept promises of the company owner that he made immediately after the privatization, as well as due to non-fulfillment of obligations undertaken by signing the Purchase & Sales Contract.

Just to remind that ’’Vagonka’’ company performed business operations within A.D. MIN HOLDING KO System, Nis, until January 25, 2007, when it was privatized at public auction by Italian company ’’Friuliexport’’, d.o.o.

Non-fulfillment of undertaken obligations and a bad communication with trade union representatives led to an accumulated employees discontent , the culmination of which brought about a strike.

The ’’Nezavisnost’’ Union’s striker’s demands are as follows:

1.Payment of earnings by the 28th in a month for the preceding month,
2.Payment of vacation allowance for 2006 and 2007 by January 15, 2008,
3.Completing personal protective equipment by January 15, 2008.

The strike goes on in the factory’s machine room by obeying the disciplinary rules and in full compliance with the applicable Strike Law. Operations have been stopped in the first shift in which there are 150 – 170 workers. Also, operation has been stopped in the Operation Technology and Preparation Section, whereby the number of employees, being outside operation process, has been increased to 200 in the first shift.

Only after three days of strike, the company management remembered that they should negotiate about strikers demands. The first meeting with representatives of the Strikers Committee was scheduled for January 10, 2008 and this Committee announced a new one-hour warning strike for January 11, 2008.
