STRIKERS' COMMITTEE OF ''MAGNOHROM'' KRALJEVO
YELLOW CARD FOR ''GLOBAL STEEL''
Kraljevo, April 10, 2007
The negotiations of the Strikers' Committee of ''Magnohrom'' with the representatives of ''Global Steel'', which ended successfully, instill hope that the obligations undertaken by the employer will be fulfilled within the agreed terms. In contrast to this, the ''Nezavisnost'' Union is disappointed with the results of the talks that the Union representatives had with the Privatization Agency.
The presidents of trade unions had to work out a warning given to ''Global Steel'' by the Agency, because of non-observance of the important provisions of the Purchase and Sales Contract. This is important, because it would serve as a ''yellow card'' for ''Global Steel'', and if a situation similar to this one would occur, due to which workers of ''Magnohrom'' went on strike, ''Global Steel'' would risk to get another ''yellow card'', and this would mean a termination of Purchase and Sales Contract. At the same time, that would make the employer serious, and his previous conduct wouldn't be repeated.
The presidents of trade unions haven't informed the ''Nezavisnot'' Union of their arrival in Belgrade and when they would really visit the Agency. The opinion of ''Nezavisnost'' Union is that the conduct of the leadership of ''Nezavisnost'' and Autonomous Unions of ''Magnohrom'' during the strike, does not inspire trust in their behavior toward employees and trade union members.
The conclusions of the negotiations of the Senior Vice-President of ''Global Steel'' and the Strikers' Committee of ''Magnohrom'' Kraljevo are as follows:
1. The salary for February 2007 should be paid out by April 5, 2007,
2. The proposals of payment of the earnings for March and the commencement of payment of debt according to the Social Program by April 30, 2007 have been accepted,
3. The days spent on strike shall be paid this time, whereby employees should come to work on April 5, 2007,
4. For workers who satisfied the requirements for the retirement, integrating (linking) years of service (2005-2006) shall be carried out immediately,
5. The balance in the coefficient, based on disabled worker's position (2005-2006) shall be paid out immediately, along with integrated years of service for employees who satisfied the requirements for the retirement,
6. The negotiations concerning the vacation allowance have been agreed and they will be conducted by R. Pantovic, director of ''Magnohrom'' and trade unions, with Mr. R. Darbrari, on April 12, 2007,
7. A proposal that disabled workers should get an increased severance pay in case of redundancy has been accepted,
8. It is necessary to form a Workers' Committee of ''Magnohrom'' (16 members; one at a time from each operating unit) which will be in direct contact with Mr. R. Darbrari.
Finally, we congratulate the Strikers' Committee on the results scored in the negotiations, with a reminder that the Strikers' Committee should not be dismissed until the moment of the promise made and kept by Mr. Ravi Darbrari. The ''Nezavisnost'' Union will do its best that earnings are increased, and standard of living, as well as working conditions of ''Magnohrom'' employees are improved, and the provisions of the Purchase and Sales Contract and of the Collective Agreement should be absolutely observed.
