ZELVOZ ON ITS WAY TO PRIVATIZATION

Since its founding, the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union has supported the privatization of public property. Only the best should be elected members of the Tender Commission, someone knowledgeable and who will be able to provide much more advantages for employees (a calm time period in which workers will not be dismissed against their own will, that those willing to work should be provided a training and retraining for the new jobs) and that the Social Program, as anticipated in tender documentation, should be realized.

Passing the Privatization Law in 2001, the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union was preparing more intensively for future events, by organizing the trainings on the subject of privatization for its members employed in the companies throughout Serbia, while other trade union members were confused and thought that ‘’their leaders’’ would rule forever.

The ‘’Nezavisnost Union has cooperated with trade union colleagues of the companies being potential buyers of ‘’Zelvoz’’ and received necessary information from them. Also, we exchanged experience with the colleagues from the companies which were already privatized.

We have great experience concerning the entire metal industry complex of Serbia, the information and logistic support of the Privatization Center of the United Branch Unions ‘’Nezavisnost’’ and we would like to inform the public that the representatives of the Autonomous Trade Union and representatives of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ were members of all Tender Commissions, during six years of privatization, on behalf of Serbian workers, because someone had to do this job.

The ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union is a democratic organization in which the jobs and responsibilities are divided and assigned to those carrying out the jobs. In ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union the President does not have to do everything, as he has his duties and responsibilities. The ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of ‘’Zelvoz’’ is in the process of preparing for the privatization of ‘’Zelvoz’’ and we would like to stress that this is a vital issue for all employees of ‘’Zelvoz’’ and members of their families.

The activities of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of ‘’Zelvoz’’ are certainly not finished by the election of a Tender Commission member. The topics we are going to discuss in our further work, in addition to concluded Collective Agreement so far, Job Safety Agreement, carrying out the Social Program, are the issues concerning the minority stockholders and supplementary old-age insurance, of which you will be informed timely.
