FORMER COMPANY ’’MILAN VIDAK’’ FROM FUTOG

’’ASKO VIDAK’’ ON THE WAY OF RECOVERY

Futog, March 1, 2007. How difficult it is to start operations from the beginning, one can see best on the example of former company ’’Milan Vidak’’, now ’’Asko Vidak’’. A majority owner from Greece has tried in a period of one year to recover the former company with good reputation, and then a ruined company, to the satisfaction of workers and citizens of Futog.

’’Asko Vidak’’ is a new company which has started operations since February 2006. After several months of work on overhaul and repair of machines, preparing the facilities, the production in ’’Asko Vidak’’ started. Presently employed 160 workers is a beginning, that is promising, and according to the words of the director Nenad Krekic, a plan has been made for employment of another 20 workers. Introducing the ISO Standard is to be completed soon and thereby, product competitiveness of ’’Asko Vidak’’ will be considerably improved. The monthly earnings of employees are approx. €330 on the average. The ’’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union is neither satisfied with the job safety level nor with employees’ repealed right to hot meal.

It was agreed with the director Nenad Krekic that the activities concerning the signing of the Collective Agreement with the Employer and the Collective Agreement on Job Safety should be initiated. All omissions, mistakes and unclearness shall be overcome through these two Agreements with full observance of legal provisions, and will be to the benefit of employees and the company. Director Nenad Krekic and Dragan Matic, President of MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ agreed on a joint action of conducting a poll for employees on the status of corporate management in ’’Asko Vidak’’, that should serve to the director and the ’’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union in further planning and taking joint actions, we hope.

It is expected that the line ’’siti pec’’ (furnace system) will be put into operation, by employing new 15 workers. Also, one of the items of the agenda at the meeting was a tragic accident in which the worker Jovan Kerkez lost his life and the director Nenad Krekic explained this tragic event, as well as all the actions taken by the police, inspections and prosecutor’s offices. We hope that the ultimate result of trade union’s and management’s actions for improving job safety conditions will be a safe and secure workplace.
