THE LEADERSHIP OF MWBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ VISITED ZLATIBOR REGION
WORSE THAN DURING MILOSEVIC’S RULE
Sevojno, February 5, 2007. Negoslav Jovanovic, Vice-President, and Aleksandar Todic, Secretary of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, visited the Commissary Committees in ‘’Prvi partizan – Namenska’’ and Copper Mill, Sevojno, within regular visit to Zlatibor Region, on January 25, 2007.
The status of employees in these companies and daily problems faced by “Nezavisnost” Union were discussed with the colleagues of the Commissary Committees, especially when one raised the issues associated with the observance of Collective Agreements, working conditions, overtime work, etc. It was concluded that Collective Agreements in these companies were not observed, especially in the part concerning the payroll account and payment of earnings, and that the situation in the area of safety and industrial hygiene was really bad in spite of established regulations. Besides the employers, the inspection authorities are also responsible for such situation, which are not doing their job or they do not “want” to do it in spite of oral and reminders in writing.
The status of the specific-purpose industry in the privatization process and the obligations to be undertaken by “Nezavisnost” Union in the following period were also discussed with the colleagues of “Prvi partizan – Namenska”. The impression is ruinous that the manners and behavior toward the members and leaderships of ‘’Nezavisnost” Unions in companies are worse than during Milosevic’s rule and that the behavior hasn’t changed even after the changes occurred. The same “actors” only found “new masters”. It is clear for the members of MWBU “Nezavisnost” that this is the price we have to pay in order to be still “independent”.
