Great expectations of new members of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ of ‘’Zastava Tapacirnica’’
NEW RELATIONS AND COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
Kragujevac, July 9 2008
The joint stock company ‘’Tapacirnica a.d.’’ Kragujevac can show, to a great extent, that successful privatization in Serbia is a rare event and that its viability is on an uncertain ground. Successful business operations of ‘’Tapacirnica’’ (Upholstery Section) is a result of privatization, and the Company that was in bankruptcy at one time, reached the level of a successful company exporting 90% of its products. New streamlined equipment and technology were purchased and new production facility should be finished soon, that would enable linking of all production capacities of the Upholstery Section.
As the Director Milija Sekulic told us, a double increase of the manufacturing capacities and sophisticated equipment should be expected through the investment.
Misunderstandings with the Autonomous Trade Union resulted in cancellation of the Collective Agreement with the Employer, and the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ will try to re-initiate the negotiations, the ultimate result of which would be a new Collective Agreement signed with the Employer.
The President of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, Dragan Matic, Vice-President of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, Mileta Gujanicic, as well as Regional Trustee of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ for Sumadija-Pomoravlje Region, Slobodan Vasic, were asked many questions by the members of the Executive Committee of ‘’Tapacirnica’’ and President Snezana Petrovic.
It was agreed that, within the preparations for drawing up a Collective Agreement, the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ should hold a Seminar for our members on the subject of collective bargaining. We expect that these activities shall conduce to strengthening the position of our Union and acceptance of new members.
