THE UBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ ORGANIZED A SEMINAR IN UZICE SUCCESSFULLY
WOMEN CAN DO IT

A two-day Seminar titled ‘’Women can do it’’ was held in Uzice last weekend, in the organization of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’. The Seminar was attended by active members of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia and United Branch Unions ‘’Nezavisnost’’, members of political parties and “NVO”, as well as the women from the media.
‘’Women can do it’’ is a program conceived by the women of Norwegian Laborite Party and is implemented with the assistance of partners in the territory of the Balkans. Gordana Petkovic and Monika Petrovic, instructors from Kragujevac, were very satisfied, because a large number of women attended the Seminar. It is most important to encourage women to engage themselves in the society, non-government organizations, political parties, to take stands and state their opinion.
The goals of the Seminar are, inter alia, to encourage women to influence the political situation in local communities and regarding the sexual equality issue.
-‘’About 5000 women have been trained in Serbia since 2000 until now, just through the Program ‘’Women can do it’’, and in 2008 the training has been planned for at least 120 women’’, said Tanja Ristic, organizer of the Seminar of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ from Uzice, at the end of the Seminar.
