MEETING OF MWBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ COORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR PODUNAVLJE-BRANICEVO REGION
A SCANDALOUS DECISION OF UBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ LEADING COMMITTEE (L.C.) ON EXCLUSION OF THE PRESIDENT OF MWBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ CRITICIZED AND REJECTED. URGENT DISMISSAL OF BRANISLAV CANAK REQUESTED

The Meeting of the Coordinating Committee of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ for Podunavlje-Branicevo Region was held in the premises of the UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Trustee Office on May 27 2008. The following items were on the agenda: the Work Report of the Trustee Committee on the activities in the Podunavlje-Branicevo Region, preparations for VI Congress of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ (considering electoral rules), Report of VII Session of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ L.C. of May 20 2008 on undemocratic and dramatic act of exclusion of D. Matic, President of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ L.C., from the UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ membership.

After the discussion that lasted 3 hours, the following resolutions were passed: It was noted that the problem of colleagues of GOSA FOM and ZELVOZ a.d. was evident. As far as other companies are concerned, such as GOSA MONTAZA, GOSA SINSKA VOZILA, USS SERBIA, there are certain problems, but they are being solved through social dialogue in everyday unionist activities.

The Coordinating Committee passed a resolution that electoral rules should be applied for VI Congress of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, namely, the number and structure of delegates of the VI Congress, members of MWBU L.C., members of the Statutory and Auditing Committee in line with the Analysis: ‘’We wish to strengthen the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Organization’’, which was presented to the MWBU Presidency by representatives of Podunavlje-Branicevo Region at the Session of May 19 2008.

All members of the Coordinating Committee for Podunavlje-Branicevo Region, after they have heard the Summary of the Minutes of VII Ordinary Session of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ L.C., verbal report from Nebojsa Savic, UBU Vice-President and member of the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Presidency, on the UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ L.C. Decision on the exclusion of Dragan Matic, President of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ L.C., have reached unanimously the following Decision:
The Decision of the UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ L.C. on exclusion of D. Matic from the membership of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ has to be rejected, because it was reached contrary to the Statute, it was groundless, because the MWBU President was not elected by those who made such a scandalous, anti-statutory, undemocratic decision. The MWBU President was elected by members of the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ L.C. with its 33.000 members in Metal Workers Trade Union and not by some Presidents of Branch Unions.

All members of the Coordinating Committee for Podunavlje-Branicevo Region, supported by over 4.500 of their members in the Region – condemn non-unionist, undemocratic, autocratic conduct of Branislav Canak, UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ President, toward the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, and demand from the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ L.C. that it should, in compliance with the Statute, initiate the procedure for B. Canak’s dismissal from the position of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ President. We demand Branislav Canak’s dismissal, because, when making the Decision on exclusion of D. Matic, MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ President, from UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ membership, he ruined the reputation of the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union and caused invaluable damage to it.
