THE PRESIDENT OF ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ UNION OF ‘’RUDNIK’’ TOPOLA SUSPENDED. MANY COMPLAINTS LODGED AND LABOR INSPECTION CALLED TO INTERVENE

INSTEAD OF AGREEMENT – SUSPENSION

Topola, April 1 2008
There was an expressed workers discontent in ‘’Rudnik’’ Topola for a longer time period, which was caused by irresponsible and illicit conduct of the employer. It’s not new that wages were paid out to workers of ‘’Rudnik’’ Topola below minimum, which was not in conformity with the Law, overtime work was not paid, employee transportation was the issue that was often altered by the employer. To make things worse, the employer suspended the President of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union, Zoran Milutinovic, at the moment he wanted to protect employees by warning the employer that employees could not be forced to work overtime, beyond legal framework, and that their lives and health were adversely affected. More than 90 workers of ‘’Rudnik’’ Topola demanded that Zoran Milutinovic should be returned to work, but the employer did not meet this demand.

The attorney-at-law of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ in Kragujevac received more than 60 complaints, lodged by employees of ‘’Rudnik’’ Topola. This matter was also discussed with the General Director of ‘’Rudnik’’, Milan Dmitric, and on that occasion he was warned by the President of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, Dragan Matic, that the situation was very serious and that the results of lodging complaints in ‘’Rudnik’’ Topola would be presented with very large sums of money (in millions). The Labor Inspection would have to deal with this matter, which already received the requests for inspection in ‘’Rudnik’’ Topola.
