‘’CUPROM’’ ARRIVED – SOCIALISM GOES AWAY

A visit of Rumanian Metal Workers’ Trade Union F.N.S. “Solidaritatea Metal” to the “Nezavisnost” Trade Union in Bor is the beginning of a long-term cooperation that was speeded up with the “RTB” Bor privatization by Rumanian company “CUPROM”. The information on “CUPROM” arriving from Gheorghe Sora, President of Trade Union “Solidaritatea Metal”, is encouraging.

According to his words, there are no objections to business conduct of “CUPROM” in Rumania, cooperation with trade unions is on a very high level, with signed Collective Agreement, many other rights exercised by an employee of “CUPROM”. New proprietor’s relations shall require a change of conduct in trade union and “Nezavisnost” Union is prepared for that moment, because the basis of communication with the executive management must be legal grounds, dialogue and a strong argumentation.

-“We can act together when workers’ interests are jeopardized, that we develop much better neighborly relations between Serbia and Rumania. The best award for trade unions will be contented workers”, said Gheorghe Sora during the discussion with the representatives of the “Nezavisnost” Trade Union.

A return visit of the leadership of “Nezavisnost” Trade Union to Rumania, “CUPROM” and Rumanian Trade Union has been agreed, in order that the information is gathered on relations and experience of trade unions with “CUPROM”. We shall perceive the rights realized by workers and trade unions, in “CUPROM” Rumania, and shall especially analyze the Collective Agreement existing in Rumania. The visit of Trade Union “Solidaritatea” is also a confirmation that trade unions can respond adequately to the sphere of capital, moving from one continent to another, often to employees’ disadvantage. The “Nezavisnost” Trade Union gave an adequate response in the case of “CUPROM” and had a decisive influence that employees obtained a high level of protection in the supplementary social program signed by representatives of the “Nezavisnost” Trade Union, “CUPROM”, director of “RTB” Bor, Privatization Agency and financial adviser.

The privatization of “RTB” Bor is the only right response securing future to the citizens of Bor, workers of “RTB” Bor and the whole region.
