RUMANIAN TRADE UNION ’’F.N.S. SOLIDARITATEA METAL’’
OUR FIRST NEIGHBOR
Belgrade, March 5, 2007
A long-lasting and friendly cooperation between the MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ and Rumanian Trade Union ’’F.N.S. Solidaritatea Metal’’ was crowned by the Protocol on solidarity and cooperation, signed by the Presidents of the two Trade Unions: Gheorghe Sora and Dragan Matic.
It is said in the text of the Protocol: ’’Starting from the principle of trade union solidarity, we are convinced that promoting the form of bilateral cooperation is a common interest of both unions and a key component of strengthening regional union solidarity. The basic goal of this cooperation is strengthening the unions’ social role and function and protection of employees’ rights and interests in the corresponding activities in each country, as well as a long-lasting, organized regional cooperation of trade unions and their active participation and influence in the up-to-date political, economic and social processes in the region. The priorities of this cooperation will be mutual informing, meetings of active trade union members, trade union cooperation at company levels, trade union education, joint appearance before the IMF and EMF bodies and other international organizations.
The talks conducted with the President of ’’ Solidaritatea Metal’’, Gheorghe Sora, and Vice-President Liviu Apostoiu, confirmed the similarity of operations and activities of the MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ and ’’F.N.S. Solidaritatea Metal’’, as well as the trade unions’ priorities. The experience learned by the MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ from ’’Solidaritatea Metal’’, which was gained in the transition process of Rumanian society and economy, as well as their path to the European Union, shall be the capital of the MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ that should be spent to the credit of our members and better position of trade unions in the society.
An important reason for Rumanian Trade Union’s visit is a fact that a significant number of investors from Rumania are coming to Serbia, namely, to our companies ’’RTB’’ Bor, ’’Zelvoz’’ Smederevo, therefore, one should be well-informed about those investors’ standing, as well as about their operations and business conduct in Rumania. The visits to Minel ’’EOP’’, ’’Zelvoz’’ Smederevo and ’’RTB’’ Bor have been planned.
One can draw a conclusion that this visit is a confirmation of good relations so far, but the time has been used to carry out some significant activities in the spirit of the Protocol, planned for near future.
