“NEZAVISNOST” METAL WORKERS’ BRANCH UNION VISITED RUMANIAN UNION “SOLIDARITATEA METAL”

PROMOTING COOPERATION




Belgrade, December 9, 2006
The delegation of MWBU “Nezavisnost” composed of Negoslav Jovanovic, Vice-President of MWBU “Nezavisnost” and Aleksandar Todic, Secretary of MWBU “Nezavisnost, were guests of “Solidaritatea” Union from December 3 – 5, 2006. This visit was arranged on the occasion of the IMF Conference and at the EMF Meeting held in Belgrade in September 2006.

During the talks in Belgrade the leaderships of both Unions came to a conclusion that stronger integration of these two organizations was necessary. Bearing in mind that these two Unions are in the membership of IMF and EMF, it is natural that we cooperate on mutual basis through our “union families”. It has been concluded that meeting and seeing each other at formal sessions was not sufficient, therefore, one has agreed on establishing direct cooperation and bilateral relations between the MWBU “Nezavisnost” and “Solidaritatea” Union.

-“In Rumania we had the opportunity to talk not only to colleagues from the leadership, but also to the representatives of Unions of various companies as during our visit the Leading Committee, namely, the General Council of “Solidaritatea” Union was holding a meeting. At the session of the Leading Committee we learned much about the problems faced by colleagues in Rumania and the MWBU “Nezavisnost” informed the Leading Committee in more detail about our organization and problems faced by us”, says Aleksandar Todic, Secretary.

-“It was agreed with our hosts, President Gheorghe Sora and Vice-Presidents Liviu Apostolu and Doru Pulu, that two seminars should be organized during 2007, one in Rumania and the other one in Serbia, as well as a return visit of the leadership of “Solidaritatea Metal” at the beginning of March. We exchanged the information with the representatives of “Cuprum” on tendering for a contract for the purchase of RTB Bor. The colleagues stated their viewpoints that their company was very interested in the privatization of RTB Bor, but, regardless of tender results, namely, announcing the highest bidder, the cooperation with our colleagues from RTB Bor should be advanced”, says Negoslav Jovanovic, Vice-President of MWBU “Nezavisnost”.

The delegation of “Zelvoz” from Smederevo was invited by Union representatives of “Astra”, Arad, dealing with manufacture and overhaul of railway vehicles, to visit them in the second half of January next year, with the possibility of visiting the production plants in Arad.
