APPROACHING VI CONGRESS OF UBU ''NEZAVISNOST''

A list of delegates of MWBU ''Nezavisnost'' for the Congress of UBU ''Nezavisnost'' has been accepted. The following persons were nominated for representatives in the Leading Committee of UBU ''Nezavisnost'': Dragan Matic, Gordana Aleksic, Aleksandar Todic, Negoslav Jovanovic, Mileta Gujanicic and Nebojsa Savic. The candidates of MWBU ''Nezavisnost'' for Vice-Presidents in UBU ''Nezavisnost'' are Nebojsa Savic and Gordana Aleksic, and it has been decided that if they requested support for nomination, then Branislav Canak, Slavoljub Lukovic and Zoran Stoiljkovic could be given a vote of confidence too.
The usual practice that the President of MWBU ''Nezavisnost'' submits a work report at the sessions of the Presidency has been observed this time too. Although little time has passed since the session of the Leading Committee, the accepted duties, as well as the approaching of the Congress of UBU ''Nezavisnost'' speeded up and intensified the activities of MWBU ''Nezavisnost''. A report was read on the seminars that were organized, contacts with partner organizations, international visits, participation in the work of the bodies of UBU ''Nezavisnost'', as well as on the contacts and assistance to our commissary offices and companies where we have members of MWBU ''Nezavisnost''.

The report of the President of MWBU ''Nezavisnost'' was adopted by the Presidency of MWBU ''Nezavisnost'', and then a list of delegates of MWBU ''Nezavisnost'' for the Congress of UBU ''Nezavisnost'' was made known, the decision on which was made at the session of the Leading Committee of MWBU ''Nezavisnost''. Also, we confirmed the list of guests from abroad and invitations were sent to colleagues from Austria, Catalonia, IMF. On authorization of the Leading Committee, the Presidency of MWBU ''Nezavisnost'' appointed six representatives in the Leading Committee of UBU ''Nezavisnost''.

The statement on previous work and current situation concerning the Web site of MWBU ''Nezavisnost'' (www.gsmnezavisnost.org.yu) and its future functioning was read by colleague Jovan Stojkovic, M. Sc., adviser to the President of MWBU, and a person responsible for site functioning and updating. Briefly: the preparation of the site lasted for 4 months intensively, the Serbian version of the site started on October 9, 2006 and the English version (identical to the Serbian version) started on October 27, 2006. The site was visited, during this short time period, by 1834 visitors (68 visitors per day on the average, which is an excellent result, bearing in mind that 30-40 visitors per day is considered a good site visit in Serbia). The latest news, regional news, laws, MWBU Forum are mostly read. The site was highly appraised by the officials of the Unions from Spain, USA, Germany, etc. The conclusion is that the site isn't a privilege of the chosen ones, amusement of a small circle of unionists, elitist form of promotion and union extravagance – but a serious union MEDIA (news, radio, TV ...), intended for the largest number of union members and users in the country and abroad; a window of MWBU open to the world and a door through which the ''world'' enters Serrbia's Union World. A conclusion has been drawn that the site is a joint project of MWBU to the interest of the entire organization and that everyone has to be included in it in a certain way: by sending news, i.e. outdoor events, reading the news and site popularizing among the members and friends. With this interactive site, being updated every day, the MWBU ''Nezavisnost'' joined ''modern'', pro-European Unions and became a model for other unions in Serbia and the environment.
