MWBU ‘’NEZAVISNOST’’ PROMOTED THE BOOK TITLED ‘’SAFETY AND HEALTH IN IRON AND STEEL INDUSTRY’’

A VALUABLE BOOK

The MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ promoted the book titled ‘’Safety and Health in Iron and Steel Industry’’ in the premises of UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ in Belgrade on March 14 2008. The following people were present at this promotion: Vera Bozic-Trefald, Director of Job Safety and Industrial Hygiene Administration, Rato Ninkovic, President of Employers Union, representatives of the Autonomous Trade Union and representatives of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’. Those present agreed that the word was about a very important book and that its publication was the commencement of application of its contents in practice. A promotion of this book shall be organized at the Safety and IH Fair and its additional printing should be expected soon, so that it would be distributed to all those who considered it useful.

At the beginning of the promotion, Dragan Matic, MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ President, and Slavko Lukovic, UBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Secretary, spoke about the idea and objectives of this book’s publication.

VERA BOZIC-TREFALD appraised the book titled ‘’Safety and Health in Iron and Steel Industry’’ as very useful and valuable book for all those who were dealing with safety and industrial hygiene. She announced that this book would be found at the Book Fair and that the funds for its promotion would be provided. She praised colleagues of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ for this publishing project.

RATO NINKOVIC also praised the publication of this book by judging that it was not only important for unionists, but for employers too. In the case when some accident and injury occurs, there is no employer who can provide justification. He suggested that one should continue with such publishing projects and that the next book should be a book-collection of all those events in the area of safety and industrial hygiene that shouldn’t have happened in practice, so that it would be an example to others in order to show how one shouldn’t act.

MILETA GUJANICIC, MWBU Vice-President, also judged the publication of this book as an excellent thing and mentioned that international experience from this book was mostly applied in practice in U. S. Steel Serbia, d.o.o., Company for iron and steel production, in Smederevo. He thinks that there is great advancement and progress in Serbian iron and steel industry, but it can always be better and must be better, says Gujanicic.

SNEZANA KOSANOVIC and LJUBISA MILANOVIC of the Autonomous Trade Union of USS from Smederevo, as representatives of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia were pleased for being present at such publishing and promotional project in the area of job safety. They think that this book will be very useful for all those people in trade unions dealing with this subject matter.

ALEKSANDAR TODIC, MWBU Secretary, mentioned that the preparation of the book lasted long and that he regretted that it was not printed in a larger number of copies, but he hoped that funds for additional printing would be provided. He said that the project of unionist training in the area of job safety was in the preparatory phase and that trade unions would need experts in this area one day.

DRAGAN MATIC, MWBU President, thanked, at the end, to all those present at the promotion and participation in discussions, stating that this book would be found at the Job Safety and Industrial Hygiene Fair, that the funds for its additional printing would be secured and that the application of its contents in Serbian industry practically began through its publication.
