The MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ visited Raska-Rasina Region

SAVING STUMBLED KRALJEVO’S GIANTS

Kraljevo, February 7 2008
The results achieved by our Union in the previous period, as well as the presence of problems in companies in Kraljevo, guided the MWBU to improve fairly well the status of employees of ‘’Magnohrom’’, through active and special actions, and this activity enabled the payment of lump sum financial assistance which was welcome to workers who did not receive their wages for many months. We were not alone in this project and we express our gratitude to the Ministry of the Economy and Regional Development, Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, as well as to Mr. Goran Nesovic, member of Parliament from G17+ Kraljevo.

This is only a part of things necessary for ‘’Magnohrom’’ and employees which was confirmed by the Vice-President of Serbian Government, Mr. Bozidar Djelic, who promised full support to ‘’Magnohrom’’ consolidation. Talking to ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union Committee of ‘’Magnohrom’’, the president of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, D. Matic, pointed out that organizations of self-organized workers with the participation of some members of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union could not get the support and that this activity was unproductive and disadvantageous for ‘’Magnohrom’’ workers. It is expected that the fulfillment of ‘’Magnohrom’’ Management’s obligations toward the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, will enable the retirement on pension for 123 workers having discontinued length of service.

The Chief of the District, Mr. Mijatovic, announced that the Managing Board would be formed soon and that the Company’s directors would be appointed and thereby the prerequisites would be created for regular operation of ‘’Magnohrom’’. In the first week of March Serbian Government delegation will visit ‘’Magnohrom’’ in order to agree on further steps to be taken in solving ‘’Magnohrom’s’’ problems together with the Management and Trade Union. The Trustee Committee of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of ‘’Magnohrom’’ was donated computer equipment with the view of improving their technical potentials and upgrading the communication with MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’. During this visit, talks were conducted with the Leadership of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of the Railway Car Factory Kraljevo and on that occasion the Company Management was criticized, because it showed open intolerance toward ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union and especially with regard to demands stated by this Union. Due to low wages and other problems there has been constant drain of experts and also different positions of trade unions lead to persistence in our demands, because only in this way, by satisfying them, both employees and the Company can benefit from this.
