CRANE OPERATOR DIED: ‘’CIMOS’’ KIKINDA FOUNDRY IS STILL A HAZARDOUS PLACE FOR EMPLOYEES
‘’BLACK SERIES’’ IN ‘’CIMOS’’ FOUNDRY CONTINUED
Kikinda, December 31, 2007
Besides all warnings and actions that the area of job safety and industrial hygiene in ‘’CIMOS’’ Foundry in Kikinda should be regulated in compliance with the Law, which the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union has supported for more than two years, another tragic accident happened, in which Ramakov Pavle, who worked as a crane operator, lost his life on December 28, 2007.
It especially worries us that crane operator’s jobs are specially monitored, but in spite of this, a man died. Responsibility and reasons that brought about the loss of worker’s life are the subject of investigation, but one can unambiguously state that ‘’CIMOS’’ Foundry in Kikinda is really becoming a ‘’mine field’’ that employees enter and that no one can claim they are going to return from work safe and sound. It is high time that Labor Inspection imposed a measure for shut-down of one part of the Foundry, Nodular cast, because all fatal injuries of workers occurred just there.
The ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union will re-start an action for ‘’Safety in the Foundry’’, and we expect the support not only by employees but the management of ‘’CIMOS” Foundry, Kikinda too.
