SUPPORT TO YOUNG PEOPLE

The best way to show concern and interest in young people’s status is reflected in the support and help that can be provided for them. The ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of U. S. Steel has supported the work of the Boy Scout Troop ‘’Dejan Obradovic-Roki’’ from Lipe for many years. The Boy Scout Troop ‘’Dejan Obradovic-Roki’’ traditionally gathers scout troops from Podunavlje-Branicevo region and are developing scout spirit in young people through actions and competitions, and a majority of them are children of U. S. Steel’s employees being mostly members of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union.

Scouting is one of the rare activities gathering young people, and one works with them in an organized and educational way. Besides direct subsidy provided by ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union, the young scouts were given athlete’s jerseys and caps as a gift by interceding of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of U. S. Steel, which action was sponsored by U. S. Steel Serbia.

This is only one of the activities through which U. S. Steel Serbia shows an interest in young people of Smederevo and the surroundings. A blood donation on a voluntary basis was organized within the scout activities, so that a significant number of senior scouts, active members of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union and inhabitants of Lipe were blood donors who showed their humanity and solidarity in the best way and at the same time joined the action ‘’B 92’’: BE BLOOD DONORS, and make a nice and pleasant day for yourselves and others.’’ In this action Mr. Dragan Matic, president of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ was also a blood donor.

The MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ of USS and MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ will continue to monitor and support the boy scouts of Lipe, because we received subsidies in a longer time period, so we know well what it means when they arrive at the proper destination.
