A VISIT TO RUMANIAN TRADE UNION F.N.S. ’’SOLIDARITATEA METAL’’

OUTSTANDING HOST

The visit to Rumanian Trade Union ’’Solidaritatea Metal’’ is a continuation of a successful cooperation developed in the past period by the MWBU and ’’Solidaritatea Metal’’. The primary aim of the visit was that trade union representatives of some Serbian companies met each other and made direct contact with colleagues and unions, which are similar to Serbian companies regarding production. The delegation of MWBU was composed of the President D. Matic, as well as trade union representatives of seven companies of ours: Copper Mill, Sevojno, Zelvoz, Smederevo, ATB Sever, Subotica, FBC, Majdanpek, Zastava automobili, Kragujevac, Prvi Partizan, Uzice and RTB Bor.

It was especially interesting to hear how ’’Solidaritatea Metal’’ and its members organized and prepared themselves for Rumania’s joining the EU. This visit confirmed a great devotion of Rumanian people and Serbs, which is explained best by one of their people’s saying, reading as follows: ’’Rumania has two friends, the Black Sea and Serbia.’’

The MWBU’s representatives took part in the work of the Leading Committee of ’’Solidaritatea Metal’’, and we also had a great pleasure and honor to talk to the President of ’’Alfa’’ Trust, Bogdan Hossu. ’’Alfa’’ Trust is a confederation of trade unions of which ’’Solidaritatea Metal’’is a member. The President of ’’Solidaritatea Metal’’, Gheorghe Sora, as well as the Vice-President, Liviu Apostolu, were outstanding hosts not only to MWBU but also to Swedish Trade Union ’’SIT’’. Swedish colleagues have had a long lasting cooperation with Rumanian colleagues, and they have mainly organized workshops and seminars dedicated to women and their improved status in the society and trade union. We expect that the contacts made between Rumanian and Serbian colleagues shall be intensified, so that future cooperation of our trade unions shall not be only between presidents but a broader membership too.
