SOLVING PROBLEMS THROUGH DIALOGUE

The necessity of mutual informing and communication between a trade union and employer was noted best on the occasion of a meeting with Paul Platzer, General Director of ATB ‘’Sever’’ and representatives of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union, represented by members of the Union Committee of ATB ‘’Sever’’ and D. Matic, MWBU President.
The meeting was initiated by ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union, and aimed at stating several opinions that this Union wanted to stress and actualize in the talks with director Platzer.
-‘’The earnings in ATB ‘’Sever’’ must be paid out within the terms stipulated by the Collective Agreement with the employer, because, in addition to the fact that earnings are very low at this time, employees complain even more when they are overdue’’ – stressed the president of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of ATB ‘’Sever’’, Dragan Grozdanovic. Such opinion was fully accepted by the General Director who explained the reasons for late payment of earnings for March. – ‘’The money intended for earnings will be provided from banks in the future, i.e. through favorable credit arrangements, and thereby earnings overdue shall be eliminated’’, promised director Platzer.
The second current problem to be solved by ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union is overtime work. This issue is very important for the mentioned Union, and it has been provided for by the C.A. that this issue should be analyzed and considered on a quarterly basis, which hasn’t been done so far. Unions must be fully informed of this and involved in the work of some ‘’body’’ formed by employer and trade union. Concrete solutions have to be suggested after the analysis.
The opinion of ATB ‘’Sever’’ Management is that employees’ job safety is one of the priorities that this company aspires towards.
The president of MWBU, D. Matic, suggested that a poll for employees should be conducted, within ATB ‘’Sever’’, in agreement with the employer, on the subject of ‘’Level of internal relations and communication, informing and corporate culture in ATB ‘’Sever’’. Final position on this shall be taken by director Platzer in a few days when informed about the questionnaire contents. Many topics were discussed at the meeting, but the impression of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ representatives was positive. It is obvious that director Paul Platzer is an experienced businessman, good manager and a man who respects the Union and is willing to develop good partner relations between ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union and ATB ‘’Sever’’ Management.
