ANNE MARIE MUREAU OF THE IMF VISITED ‘’LE BELIER’’ KIKINDA

THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT IS TO BE FINISHED AND SIGNED

Kikinda, May 9, 2007
A long lasting stay of French ‘’Le Belier’’ in Serbia and good business results resulted in a clear message sent to potential foreign investors that there existed all necessary conditions in Serbia for developing business and manufacturing a high-quality product for West European market. Viewing on the whole, the business results of ‘’Le Belier’’ have been improved year by year, which resulted in an increase of employees’ earnings, as well as in the improvement of working and living conditions in the factory itself.

-‘’Progress has been made in the area of environmental protection, which is an important aspect as for workers of ‘’Le Belier’’, so also for citizens of Kikinda. ‘’Le Belier’’, as a supplier of ‘’Reno’’, is obligated to observe the International Frame Agreement which was signed with the IMF and ‘’Reno’’ Group, stressed Anne Marie Mureau in her addressing the General Director of ‘’Le Belier’’, Mr. Vinsent Le Mer.

The IMF is encouraged by the improvement of relations between the MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ and the Management of ‘’Le Belier’’. Significant progress has been made in the area of job safety and industrial hygiene, and work and technological discipline are on an enviable level, which is a prerequisite for safe work in the company.

Addressing the director Vinsent Le Mer, the president of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, Dragan Matic, pointed at a shortcoming existing in ‘’Le Belier’’, and that was the non-existence of a Collective Agreement. – ‘’It is strange that the provisions, proposed by MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ in the Draft C.A., have been applied in the Company, which was handed over to the employer, and the result is that the C.A. with the employer has not been signed. The MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ will re-initiate a procedure in order to commence the negotiations for concluding the C.A. with the employer and, we hope, its signing’’, stressed Dragan Matic.

During the visit, the director of ‘’Le Belier’’, Vinsent Le Mer, and representatives of the IMF and MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ went to see the production plants and convinced themselves that working conditions were improved, protective equipment was high-quality and that employees were using it. Employees had the opportunity to state their observations and opinion of the situation in the company, as well as of the possibility to improve the operation results and working conditions, but to a higher level. The initiated activities concerning the C.A. on Job Safety and Industrial Hygiene should be completed as soon as possible and thereby a legal framework for promoting and monitoring job safety and IH is to be observed. The visit ended, with the obligation of ‘’Le Belier’’ and MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ to develop and promote cooperation, as well as that the result of that cooperation would be a signed Collective Agreement with the employer and a Collective Agreement on Job Safety and Industrial Hygiene.
