UBU “NEZAVISNOST”
JOB SAFETY PLANNING COMMISSION FORMED
Belgrade, March 18, 2007
The first Session of the Job Safety Planning Commission of UBU “Nezavisnost” was held in Belgrade on March 12, 2007. Besides the members of the Commission, elected in the branch trade unions, the Session was attended by Branislav Canak, President of UBU “Nezavisnost”, Tanja Vukmirovic, company Inspectorate with the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Policy, Gordana Aleksic, Vice-President of UBU “Nezavisnost” and Vera Kondic, professional service of UBU “Nezavisnost”.
The Session commenced upon the adopted agenda and after an opening statement of the Commission President and the President of UBU “Nezavisnost”, as follows:
-Forming of the Commission. Slavko Lukovic was elected President of the Planning Commission by the Decision of the Leading Committee of UBU “Nezavisnost”, and Branislav Adzic was elected Secretary of the Commission.
-The operative plan of the Planning Commission for 2007 was discussed in item 2. Regarding that the word was about the constitutional session, the members of the Commission were not ready for discussion on this item, so President Lukovic proposed that the members of the Commission should prepare and forward the elements of the plan within 10 days, which would fit into the proposal of the plan, and of which the Commission would state its opinion at the next session scheduled to be held in about 20 days.
-The work report of the company Inspectorate for 2006 was discussed in the third item of the agenda. Tanja Vukmirovic presented a draft report on behalf of the company Inspectorate. The report will be available to our Trade Union upon its completion, until the next meeting of the Commission.
The thing being especially important for MWBU “Nezavisnost” is the fact that there were 54 fatalities at work in 2006 (19 from this number in the metal industry complex). Mrs. Tanja Vukmirovic was informed of the action launched by the MWBU “Nezavisnost”, called “Safe job, good job”, as well as of an increased number of incidents with serious consequences in the metal industry branch, and that we would contact the Inspectorate and the Ministry subsequently and request a support for the action called “Safe job, good job”.
The Job Safety Planning Commission scheduled a Conference dedicated to the International Day of Job Safety, titled “Decent working conditions”, as well as a presentation of “risk assessment”.
The signing of an Agreement on cooperation of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Policy, Employers’ Union and representative Trade Unions (Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions and “Nezavisnost” Trade Union) is expected soon. It was handed over to the Socio-Economic Council for consideration and adoption. Unfortunately, non-signing of this Agreement is directly associated with non-functioning of the SEC and not holding sessions.
